About Ceramic Insulated Channel Strip Heaters

A ceramic insulated channel strip heater is an industrial heating component used for heating flat surfaces, dies, and molds, as well as for radiant or convection air heating. These heaters are known for their high thermal efficiency, durability, and ability to operate at high temperatures.

Construction

Heating element: At the core is a nichrome (nickel-chromium) resistance wire, which produces heat as electric current passes through it. The wire is typically wound into a helical coil.
Insulation: The nichrome wire is strung through specially designed ceramic insulators, which support and insulate the heating element.
Insulating powder: High-purity magnesium oxide (MgO) powder is used to fill the remaining voids around the ceramic insulators. This provides excellent thermal conductivity and dielectric strength.
Sheath: The entire assembly is enclosed in a metal sheath, commonly made of type 304 stainless steel. This sheath provides physical protection, corrosion resistance, and good thermal conductivity.
Terminations: A variety of termination options are available, such as screw terminals for high-amperage applications or flexible lead wires for easier installation.
Fins (optional): Some versions feature fins attached to the sheath to increase the surface area for more efficient heat transfer in air-heating applications.
